Q. What browser is recommended to view webinars?

A. We recommend using  Firefox  or  Chrome. Safari for Windows and Internet Explorer are not supported.

Q. The video does not start. How do I start the Stream?

A. Click the play button (the triangle) that is in the middle of the video player

Q. I completed the webinar but cannot find my certificate

A. Click on the link at the bottom of the video player where it says “Get your certificate”. The certificates can also be found in the workshops and certificates pages on your account

Q. Will my regulatory bodies accept the certificate provided for continued education credits

A. The certificates provided are accepted by most regulatory bodies.  Please see the list of provided certificates on the bottom of each webinar page.  Make sure that you are aware of your states and disciplines regulations to ensure that you chose the correct certificate.  If you need assistance with this, Please feel free to email.

Q. I can not be present at the time of the live presentation.  Will I be able to access it at a later time?

A. If you are not able to view the webinar when it streams live, you may use the link to watch it at your convenience. All webinar recordings become available on the website about 24 hours after they stream live.

Q. How much time do I have to view the webinar?

A. You are allotted enough time to watch the webinar one time plus enough time to review most of the webinar a second time.  If for some reason you run out of time, do not worry, just reach out to us on the contact page.

Q. I purchased the webinar but am now being asked to pay again. How can I access the webinar?

A. You will need to login in order to access the webinar, you can do so by clicking on the “login to access it now” button. You can also access your webinars from your  account  page by selecting the  Workshops  tab.

This interactive training will help participants understand the ethical issues that may arise in treating client from different religious backgrounds and how religious competency is an ethical issue. Participants will learn how to address a client’s religion and spirituality in an ethical way, if and when it is ethical to incorporate it into treatment, and some common issues pertinent to treating clients from different religions. About the Presenter

Erik Hadden is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Maryland and Virginia he was Director of Clinical Services at Vital Sources Psychological Services (a group private practice) and now runs his own private practice called Synergia. He was an adjunct professor in Hood College's graduate counseling program (teaching Drug and Alcohol Counseling). He teaches CE You! classes on religion and spirituality in mental health treatment, addiction, and psychodynamic theory and practice. He has lived in the Middle East and travelled widely. He loves reading, his wife, and animals (not in that order). He is also an actor, specializing in improv.

      1. The ethical guidelines around religious competency as cultural competency (ACA, AAMFT, APA, NASW). 
      2. Definitions based on literature  
      3. Case examples of how religious/spiritual issues arise in treatment
    3. Growing in understanding our own biases and worldview to avoid coercion (Know Your Worldview exercise) (15 minutes)
    4. Religious Literacy as an Ethical issue and overview of major world religions. (75 minutes) 
    5. How to conduct a religious/spiritual assessment (15 minutes) 
    6. Ethical issues around self-disclosure of a religious or spiritual nature (15 minutes)
    7. How to define and identify spiritual abuse (15 minutes)
    8. Review and Summarize (10 minutes)
